A massive THANK YOU to the 2 lovely managers who gave the best service. Recently we held my Uncle's wake here & everything was perfect. They were welcoming & friendly from the first conversation, made everything easy to arrange. Food was hot,fresh & tasty,presented nicely & did a fabulous separate plate for myself (the niece that arranged everything) due to a restrictive diet which was very appreciated & tasty (I even had a doggy bag for supper). My Uncle that had travelled from Cornwall for the funeral stayed in the hotel & said that apart from his first room being cold (they moved him as soon as he mentioned it) everything & everyone was lovely. The final bill was also a pleasant surprise as they did us a great deal. Highly recommend for their customer service & attention to detail. Thank you again

Excellent experience staying over multiple nights at the Blue Boar over Christmas. Chloe & Emma go above and beyond - friendly, familiar and professional. The rooms were comfortable and homely that comes with the historic building. Plus the breakfast food was simply excellent in the morning too! Want to stay in Maldon? Couldn't recommend the Blue Boar more!
I only visited the Oak Room bar of this hotel. It's a fantastic old world beamed bar with a large open fire place. It has the usual keg beers and a large selection of cask ales which are poured direct from the cask. A gem of a place.
Room was nice but the stairs getting up to the room are a tad hard going. Breakfast was adequate. Staff in general were really nice apart from the lady bar staff who I found quite rude.
Our kids organised a party and an overnight stay here for our 30th anniversary. It's a beautiful venue with wooden beams etc, the staff were all polite and helpful. The room we stayed in (one of the ground floor rooms) was immaculate and well equipped with tea and coffee facilities and a really good shower. Breakfast was excellent with a full English that was cooked to perfection and plenty of tea and coffee. Staff were again polite, helpful and attentive. Overall, a really pleasant experience.

What a wonderful stay! The staff offered such a warm welcome. Our room was spacious, filled with character, and steeped in history. Truly delightful!
